Vet With Cat and dog

Your Premier 24/7 Emergency Veterinarian & Animal Hospital in Atlanta, GA

The Emergency Vets is a 24-hour emergency veterinarian in Atlanta, GA, providing dedicated emergency and critical care from our animal hospital in Decatur. We are the only privately owned emergency and critical care veterinary hospital in the metro Atlanta area, and our entire focus is helping pets through urgent, life-threatening situations with skill and compassion.

You may recognize our emergency team from years of caring for pets under The Emergency Vets name. While that larger group has changed ownership, this emergency hospital has stepped forward as its own independent practice. The veterinarians, the medical standards, and the commitment to pets have stayed the same. What’s new is a brand that fully reflects who we are and why we do this work.

Is It an Emergency?

When you’re worried, it can be hard to know whether to wait or act. If you notice any of the signs below, contact our Atlanta emergency vet right away.

Vomiting Repeatedly

Frequent vomiting may be linked to toxin exposure or a swallowed foreign object. Dehydration and complications can develop fast.

Hard Bloated Stomach

A firm, swollen abdomen can indicate gastric dilatation volvulus (GDV), often called bloat. This is a life-threatening emergency that requires rapid stabilization.

Not Urinating

A pet who hasn’t urinated in a day or more may have a urinary blockage. Male cats are especially vulnerable, and this condition can become life-threatening quickly.

Wheezing

Labored or noisy breathing can signal respiratory distress or heart-related problems. Immediate evaluation helps determine what your pet needs next.

Heatstroke

Heavy panting, drooling, weakness, or fever may indicate heatstroke. Skip home cooling attempts and call us immediately for guidance.

Snake Bite

Muscle tremors, hind-leg weakness, excessive drooling, and collapse are commonly linked to snake bites and require urgent medical attention.

New Name, Same Incredible Veterinary Care

Our independently owned emergency animal hospital in Atlanta may have a new name, but the heart behind the care remains the same. Local families have trusted our team for years, and we will continue to provide the same attentive, compassionate emergency care they have come to expect.
